Clara Viola Büsel, born on 6 November 1999 in Germany, received her first violin lessons at the age of 4. In 2015 she began her studies as a young student at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich with Prof. Mi-kyung Lee, which she completed in 2023 with a Bachelor's degree under Prof. Julia Galic. She is currently studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz with Prof. Priya Mitchell. During her studies she received lessons from David Frühwirth, Prof. Ulf Wallin and Florian Sonnleitner. Clara took part in numerous master classes with Prof. Conrad von der Golz, Kirill Troussov, Prof. Priya Mitchell as well as the International Summer Academy of the Mozarteum University Salzburg with Prof. Paul Roczek. As a scholarship holder of the Chamber Music Workshop of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the young musician received courses with Veronique Bastian and David van Dijk and was heard in the programme "Junge Philharmonie" on Bayern4Klassik. Additional chamber music lessons with Prof. Silke Avenhaus, Prof. Dirk Mommertz, Prof. Eberhard Feltz, Lukas Maria Kuen, Prof. Chia Chou and Prof. Alexander Pavlovsky enriched her musical education.
After her solo debut at the age of ten with the youth chamber orchestra Violinissimo, Clara played concerts with the Inn-Salzach-Euregio Youth Orchestra and the Symphonieorchester der Musikfreunde Braunau/Simbach, among others. Clara has performed as a soloist at numerous festivals such as the Singapore Youth Festival, the Cremona Music Festival, the International Festival "Summa Cum Laude" at the Vienna Musikverein, the "Mattseer Diabelli Sommer" in the Great Hall of the Mozarteum in Salzburg and the International Music Festival New York in the "Issac Stern Auditorium" of Carnegie Hall. She also performed several times at various international festivals in the Great Hall of the Konzerthaus Vienna and in 2017 presented thereby a work for solo violin and string orchestra by the contemporary composer Alan Torok. Most recently, she appeared as the concertmaster at the MISATANGO Festival in the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonie, the Grand Amphitheatre de la Sorbonne in Paris and the Smetana Hall in Praque.
In addition, she intensively cultivates her passion for chamber music in the youth chamber orchestra Violinissimo, with which she is a prize-winner in national and international competitions as a member and also as concertmaster in various formations, such as the international orchestra competition "Summa Cum Laude" at the Vienna Musikverein. As a member of the orchestra but also as a soloist, Clara regularly performs with the JKO Violinissimo at benefit concerts and thus supports various organisations on a voluntary basis. She also continues to gain further chamber music experiences with colleagues from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, with whom she founded the Nexus Quintet. Together they studied in the chamber music class of Prof. Alexander Pavlovsky (Jerusalem Quartet) and were able to actively participate in masterclasses with the Marmen Quartet and the Schumann Quartet.
Clara has gained valuable experience as a member or substitute in numerous symphony orchestras such as the Junges Philharmonisches Orchester München, Neue Philharmonie München and the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie (HAP 2023 "Flüsse", HAP 2024 "Lied der Nacht").
As a soloist and also in various chamber music categories, she won numerous 1st prizes at the Youth competition "Jugend Musiziert". Together with a string quartet she also won the 1st Prize at national level of the competition "Jugend Musiziert" and they received the special prize of the cultural department of the city of Freising and were awarded the Rotary - Music Prize. Additionally, in November 2025, she was awarded one of the City of Graz’s scholarships for gifted studens.
Clara Büsel has been a permanent member of the NeoKlassik formation "Florian Christl & Ensemble" (piano and string sextet) since 2022. Together with the Ensemble, she has performed on several concert tours through Germany and has had the opportunity to perform in concert halls such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, NDR Sendesaal Hannover and Tonhalle Düsseldorf. In November 2024, the new jointly recorded album "Donau" was released under Sony Music Entertaiment Germany.
Pedagogy has a special place in Clara`s everyday musical life. Even before her studies, she was able to gain her first experience through group coaching at the JKO VIOLINISSIMO academy, led by Ulli Büsel and later began passionately teaching her own violin class in Munich. In 2023 she completed her studies in pedagogy at the HMTM in Munich.
Clara Büsel is working as project manager/producer for the "European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA)" in Munich, for the "Oxford Chamber Musik Festival (OCMF)" since 2024 as well as a tour manager for "The International Music Exchange (TIME)". Additionally, since 2026 she has been working as a student assistant at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in the Department of Higher Education Didactics.
In 2022 Clara Viola Büsel was accepted as a composer in the music publishing house "Ries & Erler" and published her Pieces for Violin Solo in same year. This was followed by the commissioned composition "Emathy" for string orchestra, which was premiered at the Udk Berlin and Philharmonie Berlin in April 2024. The latest commissioned work „Cycle“, Four Seasons for string ensemble, was premiered in Paris at the beginning of 2025 and recently recorded by the „Bayerischer Rundfunk“ in Munich.
